The Audi RS Q8 is an all-wheel-drive premium coupe-crossover of the full-size class and, concurrently, the "commander-in-chief" of the Q-family in the model range of the German automaker. The car, sporting the Lamborghini Urus, combines (at least in the words of the company itself) the versatility of an SUV, the performance of a sports car and the elegance of a coupe ...

The world debut of the Audi RS Q8 took place in November 2019 at the stands of the International Los Angeles Auto Show, and even before the official release, the crossover managed to set a record time on the Nurburgring, becoming the fastest production SUV.

It is noteworthy, but in fact this car turned out to be "disguised", slightly simplified and not so insanely expensive Lamborghini Urus, since technically they are twins.

Outwardly recognizing the RS version of the Audi Q8 in comparison with the "civilian" model will not be difficult - the extreme essence of the coupe-crossover is given out by a more aggressive body kit around the body, a grille with a honeycomb pattern, oval exhaust pipes, an aerodynamic spoiler on the roof edge and original wheel rims measuring 23 inches.

The high-performance SUV measures 5012 mm long, measures 1998 mm wide and does not exceed 1694 mm in height. The wheelbase at the five-door extends to 2998 mm, and its ground clearance is from 164 to 254 mm (due to the presence of air suspension).

Interior

Inside the Audi RS Q8 as a whole repeats the standard "brother" both in design and in quality of workmanship, but still differs from it in sporty details - the "charged" car can be recognized by the RS graphics of virtual instruments with pronounced horizontal lines, the steering wheel with a truncated rim, bucket-shaped front seats and specific RS-decor.

With practicality, the extreme coupe-crossover is in complete order: its interior can accommodate a driver and four passengers, and the trunk is designed to carry from 605 to 1755 liters of luggage (depending on the position of the back of the rear sofa).

Specifications

The main driving force behind the Audi RS Q8 is a 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine with V-architecture, aluminum block, twin-scroll turbochargers, variable valve timing, variable displacement pump and electronically controlled valves, generating 600 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 800 Nm of torque at 2200-4500 rpm.

On the other hand, this crossover is a so-called mild hybrid, equipped with a starter-generator, a 48-volt network and braking energy recuperation technology, which together allows the main "heart" to work more efficiently.

By default, the car is equipped with an 8-band hydromechanical "automatic" ZF and permanent all-wheel drive quattro with an asymmetric self-locking interwheel differential Torsen (normally the thrust is distributed in a ratio of "40:60", but up to 70% of the moment can go forward, and up to 87% - back , depending on conditions), as well as an active rear differential that can control the thrust vector.

Dynamics, speed and consumption

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the extreme coupe-crossover “shoots out” after 3.8 seconds, and the acceleration to 200 km / h is within 13.7 seconds. In the "base" the maximum capabilities of the five-door are limited to 250 km / h, but for a surcharge, the "electronic collar" can be moved either up to 280 km / h, or even up to 305 km / h.

With regard to consumption, according to the passport, the car requires an average of 12.1 liters of fuel for each combined "hundred" of run.

Design features

In general, from a structural point of view, the Audi RS Q8 repeats the "civilian" model - a modular platform MLB of the second generation at the base, a monocoque body with the broadest use of high-strength steel and aluminum, independent double wishbones at the front and a multi-link at the rear, steering gear with active electric power assisted ZF, as well as ventilated disc brakes on all wheels.

At the same time, as standard, the RS-crossover boasts an adaptive air suspension, roll suppression technology with active anti-roll bars, a fully-controlled chassis with steering rear wheels and front brakes with ten-piston calipers, and as an option it relies on a brake system with carbon-ceramic devices.

Options and prices

In the Russian market for the Audi RS Q8 in 2021, you will have to pay at least 10,240,000 rubles, however, for an SUV, a wide range of options is also available.

By default, the car is equipped with: six airbags, 23-inch wheels, a virtual instrument cluster, matrix headlights, a head-up display, a media system, a four-zone "climate", an electric fifth door, a Bang & Olufsen audio system with 17 speakers, a rear view camera, a system retention in the lane, heated and electric front seats, as well as other modern "chips".
