The first generation Ford Everest SUV was first unveiled to the public in March 2003 at the Bangkok Auto Show. The car was assembled at factories in Thailand, India and Vietnam. The car was produced until 2006, after which it was replaced by a second generation "all-terrain vehicle".

The "first" Ford Everest is a five-door SUV with a seven-seat interior layout, which is based on a spar frame. The length of the car is 4958 mm, width - 1805 mm, height - 1835 mm, wheelbase - 2850 mm. "Everest" has a solid ground clearance (clearance) equal to 215 mm. In running order, the car weighs 1880 kg with a gross weight of 2600 kg.

For the first generation Ford Everest, two engines were offered.
The first is a 2.6-liter G6E SOHC EGI four-cylinder petrol unit, producing 134 horsepower at 4500 rpm and 206 Nm of ultimate thrust at 3500 rpm.
The second is a 2.5-liter Duratorq WLT SOHC turbo diesel with four in-line cylinders, the output of which is 121 bhp at 3500 rpm and 371 Nm at 2000 rpm.
There are two gearboxes - a 5-speed "mechanics" Mazda M5R1 and a 4-band "automatic" JATCO, which direct the moment to all four wheels.

On the front axle of the "Everest" there is an independent torsion bar suspension on the wishbones, with hydraulic shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar. At the rear there is a continuous axle on leaf springs with a stabilizer and hydraulic shock absorbers. Front brakes - ventilated disc, rear - self-adjusting drum. The car is equipped with a four-channel anti-lock braking system with an electronic brake force distribution system.

The main advantage of the first generation Ford Everest is its good cross-country ability (for example, it is able to overcome a ford with a depth of 400 mm). The SUV boasts a spacious seven-seater interior, a powerful spar frame, fairly rich basic equipment and good looks. Engines for such a heavy machine could have been installed more powerful, although the capabilities of the installed units in most cases are enough.
