Citroen Berlingo is a front-wheel drive five-door compact MPV with a five- or seven-seat cabin layout, combining original design, a high level of practicality and functionality and modern technology ... It is addressed primarily to family people (with one or more children) who need “ multifunctional car ”and love to travel ...

The third generation of the French "heel" celebrated its official premiere on February 15, 2018 (during an online presentation) - having changed, compared to its predecessor, in all directions.

The compact MPV received the appearance in the same style as the C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross crossovers, moved to a modular architecture, for the first time in its history acquired two versions (M and XL), prescribed high-performance turbo engines under the hood and "armed" with a number of modern options.

The “third” Citroen Berlingo looks attractive, harmonious and progressive, no matter how you look at it - the designers did their best and gave the commercial model the best features of the brand's cars.

From the front, the car flaunts "double-decker" headlights and a "chubby" bumper, while from the rear it boasts a huge trunk lid, hexagonal glass and vertical lights.

In profile, the five-door looks like a model of this segment should be - a short hood, a high roofline, embossed wheel arches of a rounded-square shape and a large glazing area.

The standard version of the third generation Citroen Berlingo is 4400 mm long, of which the wheelbase extends to 2780 mm, the width is 1850 mm, and the height does not exceed 1810 mm. The "stretched" version XL is 350 mm longer, and its center distance is 190 mm longer.

The interior of the Berlingo is completely devoid of utility, especially in expensive versions - a small multi-steering wheel with a rim filed at the bottom, a laconic "toolkit" with two dials and an on-board computer "window", a stylish console in the center with a "floating" 8-inch display and a graceful climatic "control".

Inside, the car has competent ergonomics, a high-quality level of assembly and solid finishing materials.

The standard "M" version can accommodate five adults: in front it has ergonomic seats with a lot of adjustments, and in the back there is a comfortable sofa that can accommodate three passengers. The version "XL" is additionally equipped with a full third row of seats, where even adults can sit.

The base "Berlingo" of the third generation has a 775-liter luggage compartment, and the long-wheelbase - 1050-liter (in a five-seater version). Both rear rows fold flush with the floor, resulting in a maximum hold volume of 4,000 liters and a loading length of 3,050 mm (for the XL version).

Under the hood of the "third" Citroen Berlingo, exclusively turbocharged engines are installed:

  • Gasoline cars are equipped with a three-cylinder 1.2-liter PureTech unit with direct feed, variable valve timing and 12-valve timing architecture, available in two versions:
    • 110 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 205 Nm of available thrust at 1750 rpm;
    • 130 h.p. at 5500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm.
  • Diesel cars are driven by a 1.5-liter BlueHDi inline-four with battery injection and an 8- or 16-valve timing belt, which is available in three performance levels:
    • 75 h.p. at 3500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm;
    • 110 h.p. at 3500 rpm and 254 Nm of generated thrust at 1750 rpm;
    • 130 h.p. at 3750 rpm and 300 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm.

Power plants work jointly with "mechanics" for five or six gears or "automatic" with eight ranges, which deliver all the power to the wheels of the front axle.

How dynamic, fast and economical the "Frenchman" is - has not yet been announced.

The "third" Citroen Berlingo is based on a combined "bogie" that combines the front module of the EMP2 platform with an independent MacPherson suspension and the rear of its predecessor with a semi-independent torsion beam. “In a circle” on the compact van, hydraulic shock absorbers, steel springs and transverse stabilizers are used.

The steering of the five-door is formed by a rack and pinion mechanism and an electric booster, and its braking system includes disc devices on all wheels (ventilated in front) and a number of electronic assistants.

The world debut of the third generation Berlingo will be celebrated in March 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show, and it will go on sale in the European market (presumably from ~ 23,000 Euros) in September (official configurations and prices will be announced closer to that moment).

A wide range of equipment is provided for the car: front and side airbags, keyless engine start, head-up display, dual-zone climate control, multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, rear view camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign tracking system and markup, and much more.
