Mercedes-Benz Citan Van is a front-wheel drive passenger van of the compact segment, designed to perform “delivery functions” in urban areas and beyond ... Its main target audience is wealthy private owners or small business owners ...

The car made its official debut in September 2012 at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, and in May 2015 it underwent a small update - as a result of which it received improved engines and new options.

The Mercedes-Benz Citan van looks attractive and modern, and against the background of the minivan of the same name it is easily identifiable thanks to the dull metal inserts instead of the rear glazing.

Cargo "Citan" has the following external dimensions: 4321 mm in length, 2138 mm in width (including side mirrors) and 1809 mm in height. A 2697 mm base fits between the wheelsets of the car, and under the bottom it has a 147 mm ground clearance.

In the equipped form, the van weighs from 1290 to 1340 kg, and its carrying capacity is from 620 to 775 kg (it can carry another 100 kg on the roof).

Inside, the Mercedes-Benz Citan Van repeats its cargo-and-passenger "brother", at least in the front end - an unremarkable design, verified ergonomics, simple finishing materials, good build quality and two comfortable seats.

The cargo compartment of the van is separated from the cab by a partition, and its volume reaches 3100 liters. The car is capable of transporting items, the maximum length of which can reach 1753 mm.

The same powertrains are offered for the Mercedes-Benz Citan Van as for the minivan:

  • Diesel versions are equipped with in-line "fours" volume of 1.5 liters with turbocharging, direct injection technology and 8-valve timing, producing 75-110 horsepower and 180-240 N • m of torque.
  • Petrol modifications contain under the hood a four-cylinder 1.2-liter engine with a turbocharger, direct fuel supply and 16 valves, generating 114 hp. and 190 N • m of available thrust.

The entire power reserve of the van goes to the wheels of the front axle through manual transmissions - 5 or 6-speed.

In terms of "driving" characteristics (acceleration to "hundreds", maximum speed and efficiency), it practically does not differ from the cargo-passenger "brother".

Structurally, the Mercedes-Benz Citan Van repeats the minivan: a front-wheel drive "bogie" with independent McPherson struts in front and a semi-independent beam at the rear, disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated on the front axle) and an electric amplifier "implanted" into the rack and pinion steering mechanism.

In Russia, a German van, as of 2017, can be purchased in four versions - 108 CDI, 109 CDI, 111 CDI and 112. The minimum asking for a car with a diesel engine is 1,524,000 rubles, and with a gasoline engine - 1,531,000 rubles.
In terms of standard and optional equipment, the "heel" is not much different from the cargo-passenger model.
