The Great Wall Hover H6 is a front- or all-wheel drive SUV of a compact category with a monocoque body and fully independent suspensions, which is addressed primarily to middle-aged men (mostly families) who live in the city, but prefer outdoor recreation ...

The world premiere of the five-door crossover took place in April 2011 - on the stage of the Shanghai International Auto Show, and soon after this event its official sales began in the Chinese market ... But this car reached Russia only in the summer of 2013, but did not last long with us - three years later he was forced to leave our country along with other models of the brand.

Outside, the Great Wall Hover H6 is difficult to deny its originality - in general, the SUV has an attractive and harmonious appearance, in which it does not even smell like redrawing, although certain borrowings are still present in the details.

A front end devoid of aggression with spotlights and a raised bumper, a balanced silhouette with a smoothly sloping roof and expressive sidewalls, a pretty stern with sweeping lanterns and a neat bumper - the car looks whole, but does not cause any emotions.

This is a compact crossover (at the "upper limit" of this segment), which is 4640 mm long, 1690 mm high and 1825 mm wide. The wheelbase extends at 2680 mm at the five-door, and its ground clearance reaches 185 mm.

In the "stowed" form, the machine weighs from 1606 to 1690 kg (depending on the version).

Inside the Great Wall Hover H6, you can find many familiar design solutions, but their symbiosis is perceived as quite organic.

A weighty multifunctional steering wheel, an uncomplicated but informative "toolbox" with devices in sockets, a laconic central panel with a 7-inch multimedia system monitor and an ergonomic "remote control" of the air conditioning system - the interior of the SUV looks soundly.

But in the finishing materials of the five-door there is no nobility at all and the "China" is unmistakably identified - there are hard plastics, soiled glossy "decor" and slippery leather (in the "top" versions).

One of the advantages of an SUV is its interior space: the required amount of free space is allocated in both rows of seats. At the front there are comfortable (but at the same time "amorphous") armchairs with wide adjustment intervals, and at the back there is a full-fledged sofa with a backrest adjustable in angle of inclination.

With a five-seat configuration, the trunk of the Great Wall Hover H6 is able to "absorb" up to 808 liters of luggage. The rear row of seats is retracted in two unequal parts, bringing the capacity to an impressive 2010 liters. The spare wheel and tools are neatly stowed in an underground niche near the car.

For the Chinese crossover, there are three in-line four-cylinder engines to choose from:

  • The first option is a 2.0-liter CRDi diesel engine with a turbocharger, common rail fuel supply and a 16-valve timing belt, which produces 143 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 305 Nm of torque at 1800-2800 rpm.
  • It is followed by a petrol 1.5-liter "four" with a turbocharger, distributed fuel injection, variable valve timing and 16 valves, generating 143 hp. at 5600 rpm and 202 Nm peak potential at 2200-4500 rpm.
  • The power range is crowned with a 2.4-liter gasoline "aspirated" with multi-point "power supply" and a 16-valve DOHC timing belt, which produces 163 hp. at 6000 rpm and 210 Nm of possible thrust at 3000-4500 rpm.

By default, all engines are paired with manual transmissions (the first two with 6-speed and the last with 5-speed) and drive front wheels. For a surcharge, a gasoline turbocharged unit mates with an “automatic” for six gears, and an atmospheric one for four.

As an option, all of them can be equipped with all-wheel drive with a multi-plate clutch that manages the rear axle connection.

This crossover can reach a maximum speed of 180 km / h (regardless of modification).

Diesel versions of the car consume about 7.7 liters of fuel (in the combined cycle) for each "hundred", and gasoline - from 9 to 9.4 liters.

The Great Wall Hover H6 is based on a front-wheel drive "bogie" with a supporting body structure and a transversely placed motor. The machine is equipped with independent suspensions of both axles: in the front - of the MacPherson type, in the rear - a double wishbone system (both there and there - with shock absorbers and coil springs).
The five-door has a rack-and-pinion steering, into which a hydraulic booster is "implanted". All wheels of the crossover use ventilated disc brakes, supplemented by ABS and EBD.

In Russia, the Great Wall Hover H6 is not officially sold, but in the Ukrainian market in 2018 it can be purchased at a price of 472,500 hryvnia (~ 968 thousand rubles).

As a standard, this car is capable of boasting: two airbags, rear parking sensors, four power windows, engine start with a button, air conditioning, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, an audio system with four speakers and other equipment.
