At the Los Angeles International Auto Show, which opened its doors in November 2015, the Japanese company Honda flashed the premiere of a two-door Civic with a Coupe attachment, focused exclusively on the North American market. The car, by analogy with the sedan of the same name, has radically changed in appearance, became larger, acquired a new range of power units and replenished its functionality with previously unavailable options.

The swift silhouette with the smoothly falling outlines of the roof suited the two-door even better than the three-volume version. And the spectacular optics, the relief outlines of the wheel arches and the "duck" tail on the edge of the trunk fell on the "tenth" Honda Civic Coupe by the way.

The overall length of the new generation car is 4491 mm, of which 2700 mm are allocated for the distance between the axles, its width fits into the frame of 1801 mm, and its height is 1390 mm.

The interior decoration of the Honda Civic Coupe in the front end is identical to that of the tenth generation three-volume - a multifunctional steering wheel with a developed relief, modern instrumentation, a beautiful front panel made with a hint of sportiness, and comfortable front seats with "dense" lateral support rollers.

At the rear, the compartment has two full-fledged seats, offering comfortable accommodation even for adult riders.

Specifications. The two-door "Civic" is equipped with two petrol "fours" to choose from.

  • The basic version is a 2.0-liter twin-shaft "aspirated" engine generating 158 "mares" at 6500 rpm and 188 Nm of peak thrust at 4200 rpm.
  • "Top" - 1.5-liter engine of the Earth Dreams series with direct "power" and a turbocharger, the performance of which has 174 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 220 Nm of torque, realized in the range from 1700 to 5500 rpm.

In unison with the engines, a continuously variable variator and a front-wheel drive transmission work, and with the "junior" unit, there is also a 6-speed "mechanics". It is not yet known how nimble the car will be, but its passport fuel consumption in combined conditions varies from 7.1 to 9 liters for every “hundred” of run.

Structurally, the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe is indistinguishable from the tenth generation sedan: a modular platform, McPherson struts in front and a multi-link rear, electric power steering mounted on the steering rack, and disc brakes “in a circle”. As standard, the car is equipped with ABS, EBD and ESP systems, as well as electronic technology that simulates the operation of a limited-slip differential.

Options and prices. Sales of the tenth generation "Civic" coupe will begin in March 2016, and its habitat is likely to remain limited to the borders of the North American market. The prices for the car have not yet been announced, but its "base" is already known - two-zone "climate", front airbags, factory audio system, power windows, LED running lights and taillights, ABS with EBD, ESP and other functionality.
