The Volkswagen T-Roc is a front- or all-wheel drive subcompact crossover and the first model of a "similar format" in the history of the German automaker, combining: bold design, functional interior and modern technical "stuffing" ...

The car is aimed, first of all, at a young audience that prefers active recreation, for which wide personalization possibilities are important ...

The serial SUV made its official debut in Germany on August 24, 2017, but its eponymous concept flaunted before the general public back in March 2014 - on the stage of the Geneva Motor Show.

With its appearance, the five-door has surpassed all expectations, becoming one of the most emotional models (in terms of design) in the palette of the Wolfsburg-based company.

Without any exaggeration, the Volkswagen T-Roc can claim the title of the most designer car of the German brand VW (along with the Arteon liftback) - the crossover looks fresh, graceful and athletic, but at the same time it is one hundred percent recognizable.

The front of the car is decorated with frowned headlights, merged together with a three-dimensional radiator grill, and a raised bumper with a large air intake and contoured inserts for running lights. The silhouette of the five-door attracts attention with the well-developed "muscles" of the wheel arches, chrome edging along the upper contour of the doors and a falling roof line that turns into a powerful C-pillar. The stylish rear completes the SUV's energetic look, flaunting graceful lanterns and a sculpted bumper with shiny tailpipe trims.

T-Rock is a representative of the class of subcompact SUVs: it is 4234 mm long, 1819 mm wide, and does not exceed 1573 mm in height. The gap between the front and rear axles of the car has a 2,603 mm gap.

The interior of the Volkswagen T-Roc is designed in the style of the current models of the company - it is attractive, modern, restrained and thought out to the smallest detail from an ergonomic point of view. In the upper part of the center console, surrounded by two "curly" ventilation deflectors, there is a 6.5- or 8-inch screen of the multimedia center, below which are neatly concentrated buttons for controlling auxiliary functions and three air conditioning controls.
The three-spoke steering wheel truncated in the lower part extols a bit of a sporty mood in the crossover's interior, but the instrument cluster traditionally "flaunts" laconicism and high information content (but as an option it is replaced by an 11.7-inch widescreen display).

Inside "T-Rock" will be able to accommodate five people, although only two will be especially comfortable in the second row - this is due to the shape of the sofa with a slightly convex central part and a high floor tunnel. Front riders rely on ergonomic seats with a well-felt side profile, optimal padding density and sufficient adjustment ranges.

This is not only a stylish, but also a very practical car - in a five-seater configuration, the volume of its trunk is 445 liters. The back of the "gallery" is folded in two asymmetric sections into a flat area, as a result of which the cargo compartment is increased to 1290 liters.

A wide range of power plants is allocated for the Volkswagen T-Roc:

  • The basic version is a petrol "troika" TSI with a working volume of 1.0 liter with a turbocharger, direct injection, 12 valves and variable valve timing, which releases 115 horsepower at 5000-5500 rpm and 200 N • m generated torque at 2000 -3500 rpm.
  • It is followed by 1.6 and 2.0 liter TSI four-cylinder petrol units with a turbocharger, direct fuel delivery function, exhaust and intake phase shifters and 16-valve timing:
    • the first produces 150 hp. at 5000-6000 rpm and 250 N • m maximum output at 1500-3500 rpm;
    • the second - 190 horsepower at 4200-6000 rpm and 320 N • m of torque at 1450-4150 rpm.
  • Diesel engines are also provided for this car - these are in-line fours TDI with turbocharging, Common Rail injection technology and DOHC timing with 16 valves:
    • "Junior" is a 1.6-liter engine producing 115 hp. at 3250-4000 rpm and 250 N • m of the limiting moment at 1500-3250 rpm;
    • "Senior" - a 2.0-liter unit that generates 150 or 190 hp. at 3500-4000 rpm and 340 or 400 N • m supplied recoil (respectively).

Power plants with a capacity of 115 and 150 hp. a joint with a 6-speed "mechanics" and a front-wheel drive transmission are installed, but a 7-band "robot" and 4Motion all-wheel drive technology (with a multi-plate clutch that connects the rear axle) are offered for 150- and 190-horsepower "fours".

The Volkswagen T-Roc is based on the MQB-A0 modular chassis with a transverse engine arrangement, and in its "skeleton" there is an extensive use of high-strength steel types.

An independent MacPherson-type suspension is installed on the front axle, and the design of the rear part depends on the version: for front-wheel drive - a semi-independent twisting cross-member, for all-wheel drive - a multi-link system ("in a circle" - with transverse stabilizers).

The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering complex with electric power assistance and disc brakes on each of the wheels (ventilated at the front), complemented by modern electronics.

As an option, the crossover is equipped with adaptive DCC dampers and variable-pitch steering on the rack.

On the European market (or to be more precise, in Germany), the Volkswagen T-Roc is offered in four equipment variants - "Base", "Style", "IQ.Drive" and "Sport". It is quite possible that in the foreseeable future it will reach Russian buyers, but so far the exact dates have not been announced.

A car in the basic configuration with a 1.0-liter "troika" will cost from 21,120 euros (~ 1.56 million rubles), but for the version with a 116-horsepower diesel engine you will have to pay a minimum of 23,700 euros (~ 1.76 million rubles). By default, the SUV is equipped with: front and side airbags, 16-inch steel wheels with caps, four power windows, air conditioning, a media center with a color display, electric drive and heated mirrors, LED DRLs and lights, ABS, EBD, ESP, a lane tracking system, regular "music" and other "chips".

An all-terrain vehicle in the "top" version with a 1.5-liter engine and front-wheel drive costs at least 26,175 euros (~ 1.94 million rubles), and an all-wheel drive modification (but with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine) is not cheaper than 31,835 euros (~ 2.35 million rubles). rubles).
